Mixed pattern can give a house a gorgeous outlook that your friends and relatives can live to admire. It is imperative to know how it should be done to give you excellent results. The first step should be finding an inspiration, which can be in terms of color, a painting or even a piece of fabric. Pattern combos are also another source of inspiration.

Make sure you choose three or more patterns as this will ensure successful mixing and at the same time give a varying scale starting from small to large. Three should however be the minimum number to use.

The first pattern should be picked carefully because it’s the one that makes the strongest impression in the house. The second pattern should be half the scale or the size of the first pattern. If the first pattern is floral, the second should be either geometric or plaid shape with same colors. One can make the third pattern quite similar to either of the patterns and a small floral could make a marvelous fit.
