TA3b:  CASE STUDY: Creating and Using a SAS Grid at Texas Tech University
09/11/2006, 4:45 PM - 5:30 PM

Speaker:
Jerry Perez, Research Associate, Texas Tech University.

In this case study, I will talk about why researchers at Texas Tech University use grid computing in their research. I will describe where the compute grid is and who is involved with its creation, maintenance, and upgrades.

Additionally, I will describe what resources were used to create the grid, details about the grid middleware and the technology overview describing the grid architecture. Details will also be given about using the SAS Grid Manager with Platform LSF in order to run applications on the grid and the performance gains achieved.

Finally, I will explain issues encountered at deployment and lessons learned from the experience.
